SERVANT PROFILE

As you consider the kinds of things that compel you - the causes you care about, the things you especially like to do, the kinds of people your heart goes out to - what area of ministry or department within Five Oaks would best fit your passion?

If you have a reasonable amount of confidence and competence in any of these areas, please indicate that. You are not making a commitment to serve in any area where you circle, but we would like to have this information on file in case of special needs.

SPIRITUAL JOURNEY

Five Oaks Church is interested in meeting people wherever they are at in their spiritual journey. Anyone can attend Five Oaks and participate in much of our community life regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey. Membership, however, requires a faith commitment to Jesus Christ. If you have not yet made such a commitment personally, we want you to continue participating with us and we want to affirm your search for a true, authentic relationship with God, but it is not yet time to become a member.

Five Oaks members believe that Jesus Christ (true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary) died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for their sins. They believe that He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven. Because they believe this, they have placed their faith in Christ alone for their salvation and have thus received the free gift of salvation and the forgiveness of their sins based on God’s grace alone.

Christ also suffered when he died for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners that he might bring us safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit. (1 Peter 3:18)

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21).

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8,9; NIV)

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

…to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12)

If you are planning to become a member, (1) please tell us what significance Christ’s death on the cross has for your life (you may reflect on the verses above), and (2) please explain how and when (as well as you can determine) you crossed the line of faith and began a personal relationship with Christ by putting your faith in Him alone for salvation.
